TITAN – OCULAR TOXOPLASMOSIS

TITAN - Ocular Toxoplasmosis is the continuation of the first TITAN - Viral Anterior Uveitis. The current management of ocular toxoplasmosis still lacks international consensus on the investigation and diagnosis to initiate treatment and treatment approach for such patients. As a result, the ophthalmic fraternity still is unable to answer the question - How best do I manage a patient with ocular toxoplasmosis?

TITAN - Ocular Toxoplasmosis aims to establish treatment algorithms for the management of ocular toxoplasmosis through extensive literature review and collation of expert opinions from around the world.

Methodology

A literature synthesis of the current research into ocular toxoplasmosis was performed and from there key questions and assumptions regarding the management of ocular toxoplasmosis were collated and formatted into the first online questionnaire (Delphi round one) by the core and steering committee of TITAN.

The level of evidence (LoE) for the literature synthesis was graded using the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine levels of evidence criteria and provided as a pre-reading within the questionnaire for invited respondents to reference.

Following statistical analysis of the results, those statements with <70% consensus will be consolidated for further scientific deliberation using an online videoconferencing platform before administering a second and final refined questionnaire. Whenever possible, the second round of the survey will be held during face-to-face meeting. It is hoped through this iterative process we can achieve consensus on the management of ocular toxoplasmosis amongst the invited international uveitis experts and subsequently publish guidelines in the managing ocular toxoplasmosis for the wider ophthalmic community.

Instructions

• All participants should read the following before proceeding with the online questionnaire.
• You have been identified to participate in this study as a uveitis expert of international repute to provide insights into the management of ocular toxoplasmosis based on the synthesized literature evidence and your clinical experience.
• This is a self-administered survey and participation is purely voluntary
• All data will remain anonymous and no personal details or contact information will be collected.
• All data collected will be solely used for the purpose of research and may not be a part of the participants’ standard clinical practice.
• By participating in this study, participants agree to allow all data provided to be used by the investigators for research purposes.

This follow-up survey will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. It is optimized for desktop and mobile devices with at least a 10” screen. You will first have to review the current literature on the management of ocular toxoplasmosis provided before attempting the survey proper. Your responses will be automatically saved and you can complete the survey over multiple sessions.
